LED Buying Tips for LED signs what to look for!!

Did you know the Software is just as important as the display you are buying.

When  people buy these message displays they just don't realize how time consuming and  difficult

You see there are so many choices to make.
First how do you write your message script, what and how should you show it,  do you use one or two lines of text? colors, font,  modes, centralizing, speed pauses, flashes etc, then finally, reviewing and editing your  production.

With full color displays that boasts million of colors that would mean millions of choices,
you may  have to be become something of an artist, if you want a really great looking message!.

Now you know why you see these big  rotating 5 character wide message signs rotating around and around. they gave up trying!!

  Does the software show a simulation of the sign on your PC.

  If it doesn't, that means that you have to get the sign out of the window each time you program!

The other painful experience is if you make a mistake on reviewing  (and you will) and  have to edit the message you will have to  wait and  watch the whole message go through to the part you edited (just to see if that  period came out).

You may need  to decipher the manual which of course takes time not to mention the frustration.
My Advice it ask to see the software or get a copy before you buy and check out the instruction book.

IR keypads

These are great for a quick edit but not for 3-5 messages, unless you don't mind getting mugged while you stand outside clicking and punching for a few hours, this takes way toooo long to learn and program, then you get to the final stage and press the wrong button, (guest what you lost all your work)

 Why not Color becuase, unless you are willing to spend thousand of dollars you are not going to get a smooth finished full color sign because of the resolution.
You have probably seen these displays that have circus like colors with big ugly dots that move across the screen using big fat foreign looking fonts, they do very little to give out a message.  They often cause complaints form the residents and the City which means the inspector  will soon be around!

BUYING DIRECT FROM ASIA
 
Buyer Beware.

You  may have noticed that most things you buy cheap from overseas breaks ,

or doesn't last a long time before you have to buy another, and another.

Well that's the difference when you pay a little more and get the better quality ...

its always worth it one way or another.

When  Buying direct from Asia  you may have noticed  the seller adds the line, "you may have to pay import duty and taxes"  but in fact declares to the US Customs by telling that it's a sample worth  $0 dollars".  However you may have to pay the penalty so be aware.
If you have to return it because it arrived broken or it  breaks soon after, remember you will have to  fill out custom forms and pay for the express shipping,  possibly to meet the less than 30 day money back time period, and not only that, it's not cheap to export.  Another scenario is that they send you a replacement part and now you have to become an engineer with a solder iron, at this point any problems mean you may need an interpreter.

Don't get me wrong you may get a great deal but that's the risk you take.
